Blog-worthy Night

***Contains some slightly graphic detail, and is a VERY long post***

Well, lets say we had one of the longest probably worst nights we've had since we've had kids. Whoa, big statement I know. So this is how it all went down. First of all Saturdays lately are busy for me because Jeremy is gone all day from 8am-5:30pm with Upward basketball. So the kids and I went to watch for a little while then back to home. Hannah is easy to manage but Caleb at only days away from being 18mos wants to "play" with the other players.

So it was a pretty normal afternoon, everyone took naps even me which came in more handy then I ever thought. After nap time, I went grocery shopping with both kids, came home, unloaded everything, then Jeremy got home. So he played with the kids and I cooked spaghetti. Like the real deal, with bread and a fancy salad (for us that bag salad, but add tomatoes, avocados, bell pepper etc). So dinner was a little later and everyone ate a lot....Hannah had like 3rd helpings of spaghetti.

Next bathtime. Saturdays they get an extra thorough cleaning (I actually only wash hannahs hair on sat nights--seriously it takes forever. I timed it and it took 7min to blow dry her hair). Cleaning ears, cutting fingernails you know all the extras. So finally by 8pm we were ready for bed. Things were going smoothly, I put Caleb to bed, then to Hannah. Caleb did ok for about the first 3min, then he starts screaming. He's been doing this lately. Nothing out of the routine has changed, but he doesn't want to go to sleep. He wants me to hold and rock him and he wants his milk which is says "mak". Which really refers to his cup. It can be juice, water, milk, whatever....but it is MAK! So I give him a drink while I'm rocking him. He goes to sleep. As soon as I get up, put him in his bed, he starts screaming. He doesn't act this way?? Is he sick, is it teeth, no fever, clean diaper, whats the deal?! So he's screaming while I go check on Hannah. Jeremy's pretty much got her all ready to go, but she wants ME to rock and sing to her. And, let me say, at this point we have accomplished the greatest task which is "pottying" before bed. This is an ordeal for us. She doesn't want to go, BUT as soon as we tuck her in, the list starts. She comes out and wants to go potty, then wants a drink, then needs to potty again, wants to change PJ's because she is hot.....I mean it's endless.

So we have said, you go potty before bed and thats it. Once we tuck you in, no more getting up PERIOD! So well, next I go get Caleb again because he is screaming, and Jeremy is dealing with making Hannah stay in bed. He has a little more patience with her at this point than I do. It's the end of the day and I'm tired and ready to go to bed myself. And the caring husband that he is doesn't let me (being pregnant and all) pick her up off the floor as she is thrashing around to put her 40lb self back into the bed. Finally after 20min or so of rocking SOUNDLY to sleep, Caleb is down and out. YEAH!!

So seriously after giving in to Hannah we finally let her go potty because she said the magic word (gotta go poo-poo). We let her go, and she goes....and we give her a drink of water. Good maybe this is it. Oh no, she wants to lay on the couch, she's not tired, it's 9:15now, she only napped an hour that day, she needs to go to sleep! This cycle continues for probably 1.5hrs, I'm like what is wrong with this child....just go to sleep.

Then she starts saying "I need a drink of water my tummy feels funny". I say no you don't, you've just been crying for hours if you rest you'll feel better. Jeremy had run up to the church to get something, so I said...I'm going to bed, I turned every light in the house off, and said go to bed! She said...my tummy feels funny I need a drink. Now, keep in mind this is my sensitive stomached child who gets car sick on trips etc. So I said, I"ll bring you a bucket, if you get sick use the bucket, now go to sleep. So I put the bucket on the floor by her bed.

I go to bed, and it's quiet, everyone is sleeping. Jeremy comes home and we're talking, next thing I know, Hannah comes walking into my room....and yes, she has spaghetti hanging out of her nose. Oh my poor child. She threw up everywhere! In her bed, down the side of her bed, on the floor, and sort of in the bucket. I think she was trying to make the bucket but didn't quite make it.

So then, I feel bad for her, but I"m kinda irritated because I'm thinking, she's not sick, she brought this on her self by getting so upset. I cleaned her up....then notice shes kinda has chills and looks pale, she gets sick again, but in the trash can this time. Poor baby. We change her clothes and she's sitting in her chair in her room while we are attempting to clean this mess. I hate throw-up, but throwing up in your bed, down the side of your bed and on the floor is worse. I mean it got to the mattress etc. So, Jeremy is outside at 11pm mind you with the water hose spraying off her sheets, clothes, blankets, pillow etc. It was a mess. We rig up some extra sheets and comforter etc and finally get her to sleep at 11:30pm. Whew. Now good news is that Caleb slept through all of that!! What a good boy.

After getting things in the wash, I finally laid down at about 12:30am. I sleep soundly until about 2:30 when Caleb starts screaming. I go change him, rock him for like 1min and put him back in bed, no such luck....he's screaming. I get him water, hold him, sing, and rock some more...he's sleeping....until I put him in his bed. So I leave him alone, and he does this off and on crying thing like every 10min. Jeremy and I take turns and this child wants to be held and rocked. This scenario goes on until 5:15pm. Yes, yall thats like 3hrs of this. I can't believe it! I finally gave him some motrin just because at like 5am because I was like I have got to sleep...and I KNOW he is tired too. Jeremy and I get back to sleep about 5:45am and sleep until Hannah comes bouncing in our room at 7:30am ready to go to church. She feels great and is ready to go. Atleast I thought she would sleep late since she didn't go to bed until midnight! Caleb then wakes up about 8am happy and talking in his bed.

So, after all that, this afternoon I'm taking a nap!
