Water Fun

This was a couple weeks ago at a little water play area in Karnes City. It's free and worth it! I would have taken pics of the kids playing but my battery was dead, then I realized I had another battery as we were wrapping up to go home. We went to this park last year they have little sprinklers that squirt up from the ground, a bucket that dumps water on your head, and just fun water stuff. The kids love it and get a chance to cool off.

We were with another mom her daughter (and friend) so Caleb was totally out-numbered my girls this day, so I think he'll be glad when his brother arrives. I just think the pics are cute, even though Caleb has his eyes closed. My precious kiddos. Thank you Lord for healthy kids who can run and play and just have fun. Such a blessing.

No more thumb sucking!

Hannah has sucked her thumb since she was 4mos old. She would always suck when she had her blanket so bedtime, naptime, in the car, and just watching TV. So we found a pediatric dentist in Victoria that we go to. She's had her teeth cleaned twice and did great. I asked about the thumb sucking and he suggested this appliance. I was a little hesitant because I thought...she will HATE this. Is this taking her "comfort thing" away etc... Anyway after thinking and waiting awhile we decided to go ahead and get this appliance.

She first went and they took an impression of her mouth (she did super..I was kinda worried about that)...then 2 weeks later we go to pick it up. They glued the bands to her back molars (same glue like when you get braces) then the pink thing you see is a spindle ball that just spins when she puts her thumb in her mouth. There is no poking or any pain involved with this at all which is good or I wouldn't have done this. She can still eat really anything just no gum or really sticky candy which she doesn't need anyway.

The first 2wks or so the would still put her thumb in her mouth...I thought great we're paying for this thing and it's not working. We went at 4wks for a "check up" he said that was common and it just takes awhile to break the habit. But once the habit is broken she'll be done sucking. Seriously by 6wks...NO MORE THUMB SUCKING. She never cried or complained about this thing, she still took naps, and she quit carrying her blanket around all the time.

We get to take it out in August which means she would have had this in for 5mos or so. I ask her if she wants to suck her thumb or if she misses it...she just says "No" and carries on with business. So I'm so glad we did this. The dentist said that when they're young like this (she was 3yr 5mos when we got it put in) if you correct the habit their muscles and bone structure can possibly move back and you can avoid braces etc. So we'll see.

We have dental insurance and this counts as an orthodontic appliance so they covered half of the cost. So for other thumb-suckers out there I would say check it out! It's been great and will hopefully help us out in the long run.

Catching Up

First popcicles of the year...no better place than to eat them in the pool...no mess to clean up for anyone. They LOVED it.

Sporting their new swimsuits. I realized at the end of the day, I had Hannah's swimsuit on backwards...so really it's not as lowcut in the front. I thought goodness she so tall, her swimsuit won't even cover her very well. I guess it works better if you put in on the right way : )

Easter Sunday..best shot of the kids we could get. Caleb is fascinated with coats and jackets and wants to wear them all the time. No he didn't wear it to church, but wouldn't think about taking it off for pictures or else there would be no smiles at ALL. So I'd rather have smiling happy children and clothes that don't match. Whatever works.

My parents came Easter weekend...it was so good to have them here. More posts about that weekend later on. We had fun decorating eggs. Caleb squeezed and cracked all his..oh well. We had a lot of egg salad sandwiches that week.

I love my family. This was taken the first weekend of April at my nephews' birthday party. In Fort Worth at a church, they had a massive play tree-house that was SO SO fun, even for me! More pictures of that to come too.

Nemo the Fish

Hello out there if I still have any blogging buddies left. I know I haven't blogged in like 2months but I'm back. As of this afternoon we cleared space on our computer and all 500+ pictures that needed to be downloaded to the computer are now on!!! YEAH, so get ready for some posts of my precious kiddos.

So let me explain about our fish Nemo. Hannah got her first pet. Nemo a small little goldfish. This was her surprise for being so big and getting 20 checkmarks on her chart in her room. She would get a check mark if she stayed in bed at nap time and bed time and didn't get up 10 times to go potty, get a drink, give me another hug (which is precious of course..but still), etc, etc. So after about 3 wks we finally got all 20 checks!! So we made our way to the Wal-Mart in Beeville where they have some fish. We got Nemo last monday night about 9pm....came home and got him all set up in his new home. Hannah was so proud, and was gladly taking on the responsibility of feeding her fish twice a day (with my help). I asked the guy at the store "So seriously...how long do these fish live?" His reply "Oh well, they actually live for quite awhile, and you have a 72hr guarantee". I said ok thanks.

So Tuesday we enjoyed watching Nemo swim around, Caleb thought it was pretty cool too. Wednesday I worked all day, so everyone was gone...not too much time with the fish. Thursday things were fine through lunch, and while the kids were napping I happened to take a look and poor Nemo was kind of laying on the rocks at the bottom of his bowl. Mmm...so I kind moved the bowl around and he swam wildly for about 5 seconds before he assumed the position of floating on his side. That was it!

SERIOUSLY....it was like 3pm Nemo was dead. We didn't even make our 72hr guarantee. Come on! So after Hannahs nap I told her the Nemo died and I didn't know why but sometimes fish just die. She was ok, I mean we'd only had like 1 day of quality time with this fish anyway.

So below are some precious pictures....Hannah gazing at little Nemo swim around his new home the night we brought him home. Then well...I said that when fish die we flush them down the toilet (yes just like the movie). I have a feeling this will be the first of many fish to be flushed down the toilet.

Hannah so proud of her new fish. (monday night)

Posing with Nemo

Saying goodbye to Nemo. Look closely and you can see Nemo on the way down.(thursday afternoon)
